Getting started

What does Quiz Notes do?
It turns the lectures you record and the textbook pages you scan into quizzes, flashcards, an Exam Radar of what is likely to be tested, and audio recaps you can listen to hands-free. The goal: compress 60 minutes of class into 5 minutes of focused review.
Who is it for?
Anyone with notes, a test date, and not enough hours. Campus students, parents in night classes, career changers, nurses studying between shifts. If you have a lecture or a textbook, it works.
Which permissions does the app need?
Microphone (to record lectures), Speech Recognition (to transcribe them on-device), and optionally Notifications (for daily reminders). All can be changed later in iOS Settings or in Quiz Notes → Settings.

Recording lectures

How long a lecture can I record?
We have tested up to 90 minutes with no issues. Longer than that, the analysis step splits the transcript into chunks and merges the results. It still works, it just takes a bit longer to process.
Does my audio leave my phone?
No. Transcription happens on-device using Apple Speech Recognition. The audio file stays in the app's local storage and never goes to a cloud service. Only the resulting text transcript is sent, briefly, to our analysis service.
Can I replay the original recording?
Yes. Each lecture keeps the original .m4a file. Replay it from the lecture detail screen.
What if transcription fails?
The app shows an error. The recording itself is always saved, so you can retry transcription later or listen to the original audio.

Scanning textbooks

How accurate is the scan?
Quiz Notes uses Apple's VisionKit document scanner, the same engine as the iOS Notes app. Clear, well-lit pages produce excellent text. Heavily formatted pages (tables, diagrams) work less well.
How do I organize my scans?
By book → chapter → page. Create a book in the Library, add chapters as you go, and scan pages into the right chapter. Quizzes are built from the pages in each chapter.

Audio recap and quiz modes

What are the three quiz modes?
Standard is silent: read the question, tap an answer. Couch reads the question aloud and you tap to answer. Driving reads everything and accepts spoken answers, so you can study with your eyes on the road. Set your default in Settings → Study Defaults.
How long are the audio recaps?
You pick: Quick (about 3 min), Normal (about 5 min), or Deep (about 8 min). Set it in Settings → Study Defaults → Audio recap length.
The voice sounds robotic. Can I change it?
Yes. iOS has a system-wide voice picker at Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices → English. Download a Premium voice (Ava, Evan, Zoe) and Quiz Notes uses it automatically.

Subscriptions and billing

What does it cost?
Recording and scanning are free, with 2 quizzes a day of up to 10 questions each. Premium is $4.99 a month or $47.99 a year, after a 7-day free trial. Billed by Apple.
What does the free trial include?
7 days of full Premium access. You are not charged during the trial. It converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
How do I cancel?
iOS Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Quiz Notes → Cancel. Apple handles all subscription management; we cannot charge you outside of Apple.
Why are there two yearly products in my receipt history?
There is a standard yearly plan and a separate intro 50%-off yearly that is only offered once during onboarding. You can only ever be subscribed to one at a time.

Privacy and data

How do I delete everything?
Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete All My Data. Two-step confirmation, then everything (recordings, lectures, quizzes, books, scans, progress) is wiped.
Does Quiz Notes train AI models on my lectures?
No. Your transcript is sent briefly to OpenAI's API through our proxy, the response comes back, nothing is retained. OpenAI's API policy is to not train on incoming API requests.
Where is my data stored?
On your device. The app does not have a user-account system or cloud sync yet. If you delete the app or wipe data, it is gone.
